Inspired by the true story of her parents, writer-director Sara Nourizadeh's Marriage Test follows a young Welsh woman and her Iranian fiancé in 1980s South Wales as they await an Islamic conversion ceremony that will decide their future together. Blending scripted drama with real VHS archive footage, the film is a tender and quietly defiant exploration of love across culture, faith, and bureaucracy.
